Pascal Barnier est né en 1967 à Manosque (Côte d’Azur, France). Issu d’une famille qui cultivait déjà un intérêt pour la photo, il développe dans le commerce familial son premier contact avec la vidéo et acquiert, adolescent, sa première caméra. Après avoir obtenu un bac en Imprimerie et industrie graphique, il commence sa carrière en tant qu’opérateur PAO, période durant laquelle il est primé deux années consécutives au Prix Photographique de Château Arnoux (Haute Provence, France). Graphiste en tant que travailleur autonome, puis chargé de communication à la Fondation Carzou, chargée de de la promotion d’une fresque de Jean Carzou (Manosque, France), il s’établit à Aix-en-Provence et s’impose artiste et auteur professionnel. Passionné d’histoire de la création visuelle, ses recherches le mènent à la découverte du premier courant artistique photographique, dont l’une des règles le marque : « l'artiste photographe est libre d'utiliser toutes les techniques graphiques qui sont à sa disposition ».
Fort d’une expérience technique et professionnelle du travail de prise de vue, des images et du développement des photos, Barnier introduit dans son art les outils numériques, encore méconnus. Les techniques de tirage étant en constante évolution, notamment en ce qui concerne l’impression, les supports retiennent son attention, les possibilités se multiplient.
D’expérience en expérience, les tirages en aluminium brossé et sur textiles deviennent les supports de prédilection de ses créations numériques, celles-ci étant issues de montage de photos. Créations photographiques qui proposent, par un travail de la couleur et de lumière, un langage poétique avec lequel Barnier dialogue avec le spectateur. Tout en poursuivant son travail en tant que photographe et artiste créateur, il développe présentement des projets destinés à l’édition.

Pascal Barnier was born in 1967 in Manosque (Côte d'Azur, France). Coming from a family that already cultivated an interest in photography, he developed his first contact with video in the family business and acquired his first camera as a teenager. After obtaining a baccalaureate in printing and graphic industry, he began his career as a DTP operator, during which time he was awarded two consecutive years at the Photographic Prize of Château Arnoux (Haute Provence, France). Graphic designer as a freelancer, then in charge of communication at the Carzou Foundation, in charge of promoting a fresco by Jean Carzou (Manosque, France), he settled in Aix-en-Provence and established himself as an artist and professional author. Passionate about the history of visual creation, his research led him to the discovery of the first photographic artistic current, one of the rules of which marked him: "the artist photographer is free to use all the graphic techniques which are at his disposal. ".
With technical and professional experience in shooting, images and photo development, Barnier introduces digital tools, which are still little known, into his art. The printing techniques being in constant evolution, in particular with regard to printing, the supports hold his attention, the possibilities multiply.
From experience to experience, prints in brushed aluminum and on textiles have become the preferred media for his digital creations, these being the result of photo montages. Photographic creations that offer, through a work of color and light, a poetic language with which Barnier dialogues with the viewer. While pursuing his work as a photographer and creative artist, he is currently developing projects for publishing.
